In one word – COMPLACENCY.

To expand on that one word, lack of preparation kills any chance you had of being considered for that position.

“Constantly remind yourself of how little you truly know, and of how mysterious the world remains.” – Robert Greene (Mastery)

Some candidates believe ‘i interview well‘, just because they got that one job all those years ago, they imagine that ‘i am well able to speak, present’, i do it in my job all the time‘.

They may be right, but interviews can be very unforgiving forums where those that are not ready feel like they have been thrown to the lions. Ok, maybe that is a slight exaggeration but there is nothing worse (at the time) than knowing your answers are substandard, weak, a reflection of the preparation you DIDN’T do, yet the misery continues for the next 60 minutes.

Other pitfalls:

❌ Not practicing behavioural Q&A

❌ Asking rudimentary, ill thought out questions

❌ Not creating stories (people love stories, it makes people interesting)

❌ Memorizing answers – Big No No

❌ Not correcting non-verbal communications (using fillers)

🦸 Don’t be that guy that wastes a companies time, put in the work, represent yourself, ace that interview. Be like Superman 🦸

As always, you know where to find me..
